MX Speedster

MX Speedster & MX Speedster RS

BACKGROUND

The purest, wildest, most extreme sportscars have always been Speedsters. Stripped-down – with little or no windshield and no weather protection – Speedsters were dedicated solely to the sheer pleasure of driving. For example, the 1954 Porsche 356 Speedster had a removable windshield and all of 59 bhp – and is one of the most famous and collectible Speedsters in history!

True Speedsters have been scarce in the past few decades, so in 2021 XENEX Motorsports commissioned acclaimed car designer Kasim Tlibekov and the design studio Tlibekua to develop a speedster concept based on Mazda’s Miata MX-5 – the best-selling sportscar of all time.  The result is the MX-Speedster.

MX SPEEDSTER

While the Miata is arguably the finest all-around sportscar ever made – the MX-Speedster takes that performance and fun to the next level.  Beginning with a stock Miata (the NA model built from 1990 to 1997), first XENEX Motorsports removed almost 250 pounds from the stock NA's weight. We then created a modern and slippery speedster body-kit with optional track-ready suspension upgrades, 17-inch wheels and tires, and competition Wilwood brakes.

MX SPEEDSTER S

With our partner, Fastforward Superchargers, we offer a bespoke high-performance yet affordable supercharger kit.  With a car weighing less than a ton and boasting nearly 200 bhp, the MX Speedster S offers supercar performance despite its diminutive size and power plant.  The S-model is a true Cobra 289 killer on the track.

MX SPEEDSTER RS

However, if ultimate performance is the goal, XENEX Motorsports offers the MX Speedster RS re-body kit for the customer who wants to replace his donor car's 1.6 liter engine with an LS-V8 creating 350+ bhp at 6,800. The RS is a serious track weapon!

STATUS

The MX Speedster re-body kit and available performance upgrades are undergoing final refinements.  Four 'mules' (test vehicles) have been dedicated for on-track testing by a team of professional test drivers. The final version of the standard model body-kit with S and RS versions will be ready for customer orders in early-April 2023.

But can I afford this?

The MX Speedster is remarkably affordable considering the value of the parts removed from your donor Miata:  front fenders, rear trunk lid, bumpers, windshield & side windows, and the soft & hard tops all can be sold, substantially reducing your cost! The total cost to build an MX Speedster can easily be under $15,000!
